Anxiety Attack





Do you think you might be having an anxiety attack?

Have you ever felt nervous before getting in front of others for a presentation, or speech? Have you felt those unpleasant butterflies in the pit of your stomach before going to work, because things haven't quite been on the "up and up?" What about that naucious feeling you get when your around someone you'd rather not be around?

Those are all signs of anxiety, and we've all experienced it at one time or another.




It's actually good to feel a little anxiety at times. It helps you to stay focused on the task at hand. It's a part of our bodies defense mechanism. It's not ok though to live with anxiety and to let it take over your life, to not know what it's like to feel "normal," so to speak.

If you feel like your anxiety has spun "out of control" and you don't like the way you feel most of the time, then you really should seek help. The first step is to talk to your family doctor and get their opinion. They are there to help, not judge you, so don't feel embarrassed. Millions of people feel the same way you do.

Also, try a support group. It always helps to find others that feel the same way you do. People that can relate and share their story. People that have "been there done that" often give good advice. You may find you have a lot in common and your anxiety may stem from the same situation their anxiety does. Maybe it's trying to balance family and work. Maybe it's a new baby. Could it be a relationship? Or maybe you can't point your finger on it, it feels like everything causes anxiety. Never ever feel alone. There are others that feel the way you do, and there is help.
